In 2013 a decade after the Speed 8’s thrilling triumph at Le Mans, Bentley marked its return to motorsport with a new car the Continental GT3, based on the Continental GT street car.
The Bentley Continental GT3 concept was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2012 and first ran publicly at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2013 marking the beginning of the third chapter of Bentley’s motorsport story.
It made its competitive debut in December 2013 at the Gulf 12 Hours at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, finishing fourth. It then went on to complete a full season in the 2014 Blancpain Endurance Championship, winning the second and third rounds at Silverstone and Paul Ricard respectively. The Silverstone victory marked the first British win by a works Bentley since the Double Twelve at Brooklands in 1930. Race by race, the team’s performance improved further, until in 2017, Bentley Team M-Sport won the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup outright.
Bentley Motorsport was based at the Bentley Motors headquarters in Crewe, from where the operation ran Bentley Team M-Sport, and had oversight of three Works-supported teams around the world. The Continental GT3 was designed and built in conjunction with M-Sport in Cumbria, and led by then Bentley Director of Motorsport, Brian Gush.
The success story of the first-generation Continental GT3 concluded in 2018 with an impressive 528 races, 120 podiums, 45 wins and four championships. Making way for the next generation race car.

The Bentley Continental GT3 is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine rated at 600 hp coupled to an Xtrac six-speed sequential transaxle with a limited-slip differential via a racing clutch and carbon fiber propshaft, operated by a steering wheel mounted paddle actuated pneumatic gear shift system. The suspension comprises a double wishbone configuration at the front and rear with four-way adjustable racing dampers. The steering is hydraulically power assisted. It is fitted with ventilated steel brake rotors front and rear with Brembo 6 piston calipers on the front and 4 piston calipers on the rear. The cockpit has a driver-adjustable brake bias knob. The cabin is fitted with an FIA-specification steel roll cage, Sparco six-point FIA safety harness, onboard fire extinguisher, and an onboard pneumatic jack system. Also fitted with an FIA-specification racing fuel cell, ABS, Traction Control, a lightweight race battery, OZ Racing 18×13-inch rims with 310/710R18 tires.
